The industrial facility is located at more than 3,800 meters above sea level on the Centenario-Ratones salar, in the province of Salta. The region is known as the “Puna”, where the climate is arid, with strong winds and low temperatures that can drop below -25ºC and rise to 35ºC during hot season.

To ensure a safe workplace for all individuals on site, comprehensive safety protocols were implemented, alongside stringent training programs. At such altitudes, mountain sickness, among other risks, remains a constant threat, necessitating robust prevention and response measures. This rigorous procedure ensures the safety of everyone involved, resulting in very few accidents or incidents, thanks to the preventive measures in place.
An Emergency Squad on site
The emergency squad present on the site allows us to identify, prevent, assess and control any risk to employees or to company property. It is made up of people highly trained to respond to different emergencies. The squad is composed of 35 volunteers from different areas of the company, who receive continuous training on first aid, response to chemical emergencies, rescues at height, fire, and rescues in vehicles and confined spaces.

Our medical infrastructure
A hospital functions around the clock and ambulances and planes are ready to tackle any emergency that may arise. This streamlined approach ensures prompt responses, vital for navigating the inhospitable landscape.
An hyperbaric chamber on site
This therapeutic tool is used to treat mountain sickness and makes it possible to virtually descend 2,500 meters in less than 10 minutes. This easy-to-use equipment considerably lightens the health protocol by avoiding medical evacuation and an unfavourable evolution of this pathology.

Additionally, the plant maintains a comprehensive Emergency Plan to guide response efforts in the event of an incident.
