Significant contributions to the local communities during our first 10 years in Salta
We have been working on the project for more than 10 years since exploration and during this time Eramine has always tried to maximize its purchasing (labor and goods) from the local communities of the Salta province.
During the construction phase of the project, more than 3,000 indirect jobs were created in the Salta region.
At the same time, the Eramine team grew significantly over the lifespan of the project and the company now employs more than 500 people directly.
Investment in goods and services
As per our commitment in our Purchasing Policy, Eramine has paid specific attention to local purchasing. Gradually, our investment in suppliers from Salta has grown.
Over 290 million USD have been invested in purchases from local suppliers from the Salta area (590 million USD in Argentina). This is the biggest part of Eramets’ 870 million USD investment in the project.
Eramine complies with law 8164 and regulating decrees related to the hiring of local suppliers and workforce in Salta, and we send updated information every six months to the enforcement authority.

Between 2010 and 2022, from the exploration phase to the feasibility study, Eramine grew its team through direct and indirect jobs. The number of employees reached 500, most of them originating from the Salta region. Since the very beginning, we have maximized local purchasing and employment to contribute to the local economy.
Our pilot plant not only served to develop and optimize the process, but also to improve the skills of its employees. One of the main benefits of this plant is that it raises the level of local labor to the standard of the lithium industry.

The region of Salta and the country of Argentina are benefiting directly from the project (local companies, workers, suppliers, etc.)
Up to 1,600 workers were simultaneously mobilized for the construction, more than 80% of whom were from the province of Salta.
459 million USD were injected into the Argentinian economy.

Our industrial activity is starting to generate economic benefits for the Argentinian economy (salaries, local expenses for operating needs, purchases of goods and services from local suppliers, provincial royalties, income tax):
- 160 million USD/year in full operation or 3,300 million USD in the next 20 years are expected, based on production costs and lithium market price.
